That´s why SMEs are using ICTs¡

Within the context of a global, knowledge-based economy, countries are looking to using ICTs to help initiate, support, and facilitate the SMEs development. Economic Performance is stronger in firms that use ICT and even more so in firms that use a combination of several ICTs to enhance their e-readiness status to identify, acquire, organize, disseminate and apply information for informed decision making.

An example of this kind of technology is the cell phones that are affordable, portable and provide instant communication means. Others include: facsimile, landline telephones, teleconferencing, e-mail, accounting software etc. 

ICTs have proven to be vital in improving the efficiency and in expanding the market reach of the SMEs, as well as in establishing new ways for the SMEs to obtain -and to make the most effective use of- business information. 

Even more, ICTs have made it possible for business enterprises worldwide to make direct links with customers, suppliers and distributors and has facilitated transactions, processes and information transfer.
